Oman Petrol Prices Now More Expensive Than U.S. Gas Prices

Oman`s gas prices now surpass some gas prices in the USA. Oman has been hiking their petrol prices each month since mid-January 2016 in order to compensate for loss of revenue from drop in oil prices worldwide and to reduce the fuel subsidies. Have they surpassed the market petrol price without subsidies?

Reference: Omani per litre petrol prices on January 1, 2016 -
114 bz regular, 120 bz super, 146 bz diesel

After the petrol price hikes:

1. Omani Adee'/regular is 186 bz per litre as of February 1, 2017

2. In South Carolina, a U.S. state, according to gasbuddy (16 hrs ago) Exxon Mobile, 12110 Asheville Hwy, regular gas price is 1.83 USD per gallon cash only.

Conversion to bz per litre US gas price

1 gallon = 3.78541

1.83 USD = 700 bz

700 bz divided by 3.78541 = 184.9 bz per litre US Gas

184.9 bz per litre IS LESS THAN THE OMANI PRICE OF 186 bz per litre

----------------------

DIESEL SAMPLE GAS PRICES (OMAN VS USA)

1,  Omani Price = 205 bz per litre

2. US South Carolina Prices = 1.89 USD per gallon Marathon Gas (2.04 USD Shell)

Conversion to bz per litre US gas price

1 gallon = 3.78541

1.89 USD = 730 bz,

730 bz divided by 3.78541 = 192.8 bz per litre US Diesel

193 bz per litre IS LESS THAN THE OMANI PRICE OF 205 bz per litre

--------------------------------------
Conclusion: Buying gas in America is cheaper in some places than buying gas in Oman.
